Samsung Galaxy S4 Vs Nokia Lumia 920

Samsung had a great time last year due to overwhelming success of Samsung Galaxy S3. The company has huge expectations from its successor, the Galaxy S4, which just hit the shelves. Samsung Galaxy S4’s journey is not going to be simple, as many many rival smartphones are already there in the market. Talking about the toughest competitors of Galaxy S4, the Nokia Lumia 920 is the name that comes among the top.  You might be curious to know that which one out of both is better, right? Samsung Galaxy S4 has almost same outer look what its predecessor has. Samsung has done a great job by increasing the screen size while making it thinner than Galaxy S3. The dimensions are 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm and its weight is 4.59 oz or 130g.

Nokia Lumia 920 follows the typical outer look of smartphones in Lumia line-up. This smartphone has 130.3 x 70.8 x 10.7 mm dimensions and it weighs 6.53 oz or 185g. So, this smartphone is quite heavy as compared to Galaxy S4.


With its 5.0-inch screen size, Galaxy S4 is actually a phablet. Its Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen 441ppi pixel density, and it offers 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. For protection from scratches, dust etc., Corning Gorilla Glass 3 is used in it.

Nokia Lumia 920 has 4.5-inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that offers 332ppi pixel density and 768 x 1280 pixels resolution. Corning Gorilla Glass 2 provides protection to the screen.

Processor and Operating System

Processor in Samsung Galaxy S4 is Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A15 & quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 and the chipset is Exynos 5 Octa 5410. It runs the latest version of Android, the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Nokia Lumia 920 has Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon Chipset and the processor is Dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait. Just like all smartphones of Lumia line-up, the Nokia Lumia 920 is Windows Phone based smartphone. It runs Microsoft Windows Phone 8 OS. Windows 8 OS is far behind than Android OS in terms of features and popularity graph. But it is progressing slowly.


Samsung Galaxy S4 is available in 16, 32 and 64GB memory variants. Each variant supports microSD card which can be maximum of 64GB. The RAM in this smartphone is 2GB.

Nokia Lumia 920 is available in only one memory variant which is 32GB. Though this much internal storage is quite enough, but in case, it is not enough for you and you want to expand it, then sorry, but you can’t do so. This Nokia smartphone does not support microSD card. RAM is 1GB.


Samsung Galaxy S4 has 13MP and 2MP Primary and Secondary Camera respectively. Both camera let you record full HD videos of 1080p quality.

Nokia Lumia 920 has 8MP Primary Camera that lets you shoot full HD videos. The 1.3MP Secondary Camera can record 720p videos.


Li-Ion 2600mAh battery is there in Galaxy S4. It is rated to provide talk time of up to 17 h (3G).

Nokia Lumia 920 has Non-removable Li-Ion 2000mAh battery (BP-4GW) that is rated to provide talk time of up to 17 h (2G) / up to 10 h (3G).

The Verdict

Galaxy S4 is way better than Lumia 920 in every aspect. So, for me, Galaxy S4 is better out of these two. What’s your view?
